It is a pleasure for me to present Death Living to the world, one of the most evil southamerican bands. Here's what Pedro, the band's possessed vocalist told us about the band, the scene and a couple of other things:

1. Hello Pedro, could You tell us something more about the lyrics of Your EP as they do seem to have a common story going on along - at least the first three tracks? What about Octavio and The Sacristan?
     Hello to all the Diabolous thrashers!!! The lyrics on F.U.O.M. are all real strories. "Aqui Habita El Espiritu Del Diablo" is about a happening that took place some time ago in Colina (a village about 230 km north of Curico) in an apartment where people used to perfom Witchcraft and Black Magic rituals. The main person involved was an evangelist performing satanic rituals with some high situated guy upon the daughter of this man... The second and the third track both base on the same story about a blasphemous happening in Rengo (105 km north from Curico) where there was a bloody shooting on a sacristan in his church, where Octavio got shot down and this sacristan dies after nine days of agony... "occult and magical we advance..."

2. You came in 1998 surprising everybody with a demo called "Dark Religion". What were the reasons You wouldn't release anything through these past years until now?
     "Dark Religion" should have been released in '94, all this damn lack of money made us wait another four years... it has been really difficult to release our next material after that... sometimes the talent is there, but the funds aren't - even harder for a band from the province as things get much more difficult, yet Death Living is not to show any weaknesses, no turning back, we'll stand tall till the end!!!

3. What could You tell us about the metal scene around Curico?
     Just about a decade ago people called our region "Sweden" as there were like twenty five bands (where Curico has about 100.000 people) different styles, four magazines and all the headbangers your could dream of... there is nothing of it left these days. There are two bands around that played a show last December together with a Brasilean band that say to play Christian Black Metal... Now that's ridiculous shit!!! Posers!!! En Curico there's only Death Living these days... and what's interesting, we see new bangers rise these days...

4. What's is the actual line-up right now and what do You guys do apart from playing?
     The line-up is as follows: Israel Gomez/bass player, Marcelo Fantasma/Drums, Carlos Vasquez/guitars, Alvaro Millar/guitar and Pedro Canales/vox. Well, we do in the trucking bussiness as well as graphics... and more...

5. What's the concept of the cover work on the "Forever Undergroung Occult And Magic" EP ?
     F.U.O.M represents the whole: "From world's end, arid earth, desert firmament, from south cold forest, lakes and volcanos, where snow looks at the sea, where the blasphemous warrior hidden behind the mist of this stormy and black south sea..." that's part of the title track (recorded in English). Apart from that, to show we have nothing to envy thew Norwegians not enven the image! The picture on the cover shows our drummer Marcelo, taken in Queńes, outside of Curico.

6. I've got to admit that You are the first death/thrash band that sounds brilliant whilst singing in Spanish... Are You going to keep it that way or are You thinking on singing in English?
     Alright, thanks, we will surely keep recording the title tracks in English. Some years back we thought of changing the band's name to Possesion Oculta but Death Living had made its name already pretty well know so we would have to start practically right from the start... still the main idea is to keep most of the material in Spanish.

7. "Forever Underground Occult And Magic" was produced by You and Vanguardian Records... Would You tell us a bit about Vanguardian Rec?
     Well, the productrion is all our work as a band. Vanguardia Rec is just a fictitious name to give it more sort of a power to each release if You know what I mean...

8. Are you guys into Satanism?
     I'd say it's much more than Satanism... I see it more like Evil and much more Hatred

9. I always thoguht a band should have a manager. Personally I think You've taken the right steps - even though You're a band from the province, Your EP and the promotion of the band can be seen all over the place...
     Adolfo Blanco is a real friend, he has always given us all the support, he's been a great help for Death Living. He's just one of us. There are other people that keep helping us, thanks go to Héctor Morales from Quellón, Steffen Knabe from Germany, José Miguel from Melipilla, Victor from Talcahuano, Camila Ramírez from Valdivia and Alexis Hernández from Curicó. 10. How would You label Death Living?
     Blasphemer Forever Underground Occult and Magic.

11. Would You name Your five favorites on Your native scene of the decade of the eighties? What would be You favorite Chilean bands that are not around any more? Why?
     Well, that's a tough one... surely Pentagram (Fatal Prediction), Dorso (Bajo Una Luna Cámbrica), Atomic Aggressor (Bloody Ceremonial), Sadism (Perdition Of Soul) and Death Yell (Vengeance From Darkness). There have been many important bands but most of all I have to mention one that really made it all different in those years back, that would be Death Yell, a band that released with their demo two Eps pressed on vinil. One through Turbo Music (Germany) and the other through Skin Drill (USA)... imagine if they would keep going!!!

12. You have recently played on the same stage with Poema Arcanus... what do You think of such different bands sharing the same stage?
     We really don't have any problems with that, you know, as long as the bands are real and keep it pretty much undergroud... Poema Arcanus keeps it that way.

13. Are there any possibilities For Death Living to get a deal a foreign label yet?
     Not really... well, they are missing it...

14. Most of us have different feelings listening to any material.... I found that You really made a point in having a style overall very much of Your own... I could feel there some touches of Nocturnal Breed and old releases of Slayer, Sodom, Rotting Christ... What doYou say?
     Thanks - that's where we're heading!!! Other thrashers have been going through the same, in Castro, Nelson Buick would always repeat: The most important thing is to bring in something onto the Chilean scene.

15. I heard that You were going to release Your F.U.M.O on CD, will there be any extra material on it?
     That's right, there will also be new graphcis and new photos - a must have it!

16. How do You see the national scene, it's evolution over the years as You've been around since '91.
     Well, there's been quite a few bands coming these years, many of them of the false kind, that only make it harder for those real bands that stick to their principles.

17. What comes to Your mind hearing the following statement: Those who want to walk my path, are to leave all behind and follow me with their cross...
     Hahahaha!!! Those were the words that probably sang those shitheads on that cristian show I mention earlier! How come can people be so stupid!!! We'll never get rid of these assholes!!!
