It's pretty hard to find a real fan of brutal music, that wouldn't hear of DEVILYN. It's been quite a long time though, since we last heard of them - some thought we might never here of them again... Luckily those who thought Devilyn was gone, were very wrong! The band has come back this year with a release that proves, how much they belong to the top bands. Let us hope, that together with he great music, we'll see some good promotion going on there in our country and abroad. We asked a couple of questions Bony - the guitarist:

1. DEVILYN has gone through rough times. Line-up changes, label and promotion problems. Can you tell us now, that everything is fixed as it should be, at last ?
Yeah, it's true we've had some troubles, it's all under control right now, and I think it's going to stay that way.

2. You're done with personal changes within the band. Is you current line-up the most powerful?
Devilyn's current line-up KILLS!!! We've met the righ people, which we made the right connection with, I think our line-up right now is very strong and together we make up the whole, at last I can state here that we are a true band, 'cause in the past it wasn't always that way.

3. Speaking of the band members. What might happen to the band, if Novy had to choose between Devilyn and Behemoth, where he's involved very much as well?
Well, I don't think that could be the case, that Novy would have to make a choice, as we try to manage everything that way, so Devilyn and Behemoth don't clash in any way. But still, if there was such a case somehow, well... there ain't peolple you can't replace hehehe.

4. Listening to your music I can't hold myself not to say, that you're very much an American death metal school band. What would you say about that. Can you tell us about the people and bands that through the years shaped your musician's innerself?
Sure I can, I'm a log time fan of such bands as: Morbid Angel, Slayer, Testament or Cannibal Corpse - thses are the bands I grew up on, thanks to them I started playing the guitar and started with Novy a band called Cerebral Concussion, which later on transformed into DEVILYN. We've alway looked up to the bands on the other shore of the ocean, we loved the sound, I felt that music closest to myself and that's what I wanted to play, because it sort of turns me on. We've spent lots of time with Novy listening to those albums, and I think it's given us the right results, and the sound of American death metal in Devilyn's music.

5. Name your five favourites on our [Polish] scene. They don't have to be bands with a contract already. I just would like you to tell us, about bands that in your opinion are worth mentioning.
Hmm that's a tough one for me, beacause I'm not that much up tp date and there is so many new talented bands rising, but I'll try to answer it anyway. I think that Inferno's project - Azarath is deffinitely worth a closer look, that's really hellish stuff. Following would be: Hellborn, Spinal Cord, Witchmaster.

6. Will your fans have to wait much for your next release? I hope it won't be that long as it was between "Reborn in Pain" and "Artefact"?
No, I don't think it'll be as long, as it was the last time, we don't have the troubles we had back then while releasing "Reborn in Pain", so probably in December or January we'll be going into the studio and if the label doesn't fuck something up, the new album should be out somewhere in March/April 2025.

7. You recorded "Artefact" the Hendrix Studio. How do you recall the time spent there? What could you tell other bands that plan, using that studio for their recording sessions?
Nothing to say really ! Because every band has their own unique way of working things and it deppends very much on the band, how will the final result look like. I've got to admit though, that the Hendrix Studio is a top professional studio and you can do there really good.

8. Where there any weird situations while recording "Artefact", that you still remember?
Yeah well, there were more or less funny situations, some even a bit grotesque and horrible hehehe .... but I won't tell you about them ]:)

9. Tell us something about your fascinations apart from music. What do you do apart from that?
Apart from our music life, unfortunately, we have regular job. As for now it doesn't look like we're going to able to make a living out of death metal. Our fascinations really focus on one thing - Music - we love to play live and touring most of all it's a great thing to play for your fans, meet them personaly.

10. How're things looking abroad for Devilyn? Are you happy enough with the up to day promotion work of your new label?
Devilyn's position abroad is sort of a complicated thing, because we get really many greac reviews from there, we're compared with huge bands and many well known zine's and internet zine's gave us maximum points for "Artefact", but than again, nothing really happens - we're still just a band from Poland, and some people treat us like some third world shit. I have no ide how's the album selling in the rest of Europe, because we've not had yet any stats from our label, so I can't really judge the label in any way yet , but I hope it won't be that bad, 'cause we wouldn't like to chage the label again.

11. How do you recall this year's concerts in France, Spain and the Great Britain? How much the behaviour of the fans abroad differ on live shows from the Polish metalheads?
That was great! It wasn't the first time Devilyn got to play shows in Spain and France, so we felt really wellcome. I wouldn't say that the behaviour differs much, they are pretty much as crazy as are the Poles, the only difference would be that, they drink a bit less on concerts there hehehe.....

12. We heard you're planing a bigger European Tour, can ou tell us anything about that?
     We're working on it.

13. Would you like to make a living out of Devilyn? You've got to admit, that would be a comfortable situation, concentrating on playing only?
We're working on that as well and we dream about it all our life.

14. What do you preffer most: playing live for wild fans, o spending time in the studio or on rehersals?
Each one of the things you mentioned are of very importance to me, but I'got to admit that playing live ain't just pleasure, it feels like orgasm!!!

15. Have you though of releasing a live album? Is there a chance for such a release?
We are plannig that for some time now, but there's always something standing in the way. I think we're going to do that on the first bigger tour we get to do.

16. How much time do you spend working on your guitar playing skills? What can you tell all the youngsters out there?
Well, it all deppends, as there are days I just don't feel like picking my guitar up at all, on tour the same thing, usually don't have spare time to work on it - just a quick warm up before going on stage, sure it's a totally different thing, when we start to work on new material and the terms for going into the studio are closing in, I play as often as only can. For the youngsters thaqt want to play I can tell them not to get stuck playing at home - I knew a couple of people that commited that mistake, you need to play in a band the most you can, that's what most developes your skills.

17. When are we to expect any new releases? Do you have any left overs from your recording sesions, that you'll release?
Yeah we have some material, that could easily fill the gap that'll be there till our next album, but it seems we'll be unable to do it because we can't come to an agreement in that matter with our record company, which is a pity.

18. Thanks a lot for the interview Bony! Wishing the band all the best I'd like to ask you a couple of words to end this...
I also wantedo to thank you and greeting to all the fans of DEVILYN, see you all on concerts and I hope that the time to our next release won't be that long.
666.
