1. Welcome to diabolous.com. Tell me, have there been any changes of the line-up since your last recordings? Is Mark a permanent member of the band? After receiving the promos I came to the conclusion that he was only a session musician.
- 666... The same people create NOD! What's more Non Opus Dei has enriched its experience. The man of the sound terror has joined us! He will have an opportunity to kill you on the new album APPLIED DIABOLOGY (it's our second album which was recorded exactly a couple of days ago). Mark made a guest appearance and he doesn't belong to the band for good. On the other hand he's much more than a session musician... You know, he excellently understands what is our music about, he knows what he should play as if he was one of us. He's our friend.
2. Your previous materials are called "Yfel" and "IlLiaet". Your third album is called "Diabolical Metal". Have you really bet on the intransigence?
Fuck, is ILIAEST such a difficult word? Hardly anybody can write it correctly, haha. Regarding the question we've qualified our music as diabolical metal and it was a necessary to title the first album like this. It's our style and our approach to metal. It's diabolical philosophy adorned with infernal sounds.
3. What's the premise of "Diabolical metal"?
First of all - metal is the music of the Devil. Lyrics describe various aspects of infernal idea. For instance, "Teufelssteine" is a tale about the pagan cult of the stone, "Transformation into..." is about transformation into a deity, "Time to meet your Doom" - let's be the barbarians of the world decline, it's time to destroy and create. "... ognia, burzy i buntu" pays the homage to all deities which lead us along the fiery path. Our basic premise is DOMINE, REX INFERNUS!
4. Do you favour bands that don't beat about the bush like at least Destroyer 666 or Nifelheim?
Sure, I'm pleased when a band expresses the fucking brutality not only in its music but also in its image, ideas and behaviour. Chains, weapon, blood, nails, alcohol and Satan!
5. Name bands around that you trust and like because of their music and activity.
Everybody should know his/her value.
6. What do you do for a living? Do you work or study? I would ask you in a cunning way if such a question makes you nervous? Have you ever had the impression that somebody who interviews you gains a unique insight into your private life?
- I would answer you also in a cunning way... - we earn our death every day. Regarding the second part of the question - it's me who playing music gains a unique insight into your private life. Not only does Non Opus Dei create the music, but also it creates reality.
7. Tell me, what is metal and all the things connected with this music for you? Are you maybe committed to the magic in its full meaning?
As I said, I don't create music. I create reality. Everything what I write or play is connected with what I do. It's not just an image, it's my life. I'm committed to everything what I write. Not everybody from Non Opus Dei has been in this hell as long as I do. However, all of us are on the same side...
8. Is there anybody who thwarted your plans? Would you like telling us some examples to make others aware of them?
Ha, there's nothing to say about it. We always settle possible conflicts off-hands and we have never had any serious problems with anybody.
9. What does "Satanism" mean to you?
Excellently formulated question... As for me, it's the way of life and the way I see the world: "It's a worthless mind, which adjusts to things which were invented and not to that ones which should be invented". Relinquishing the limits for the sake of progress.
10. How do you think, what's the difference between the bands from the official scene and the bands hidden in the underground? What's your attitude towards the local scene and where would you place it in the world scene?
There's no difference! The underground bands have proved more than once, that they're much better than applauded official ones. Where would I place our scene... All the hit parades are not my business.
11. What inspires you the most to create music? Is it everyday life, history, literature or maybe music of the other bands? Name some examples if you would like to.
As for me, all of the above are my inspirations. You know, even seemingly various aspects have some features in common - literature is connected with music, history is connected with everyday life. Everything what I do, who I am and what happens to me inspires me. There is no border between NOD and my life.
12. In what way did the songs of "Diabolical Metal" come into existence? Do you work collectively or maybe only one person decides what there will be on the next material?
Regarding the guitars, it's me who brings ideas, but a composition as a whole is finished up on rehearsals by all of us. It's me and the drummer who decide what to play because we belong to the band the longest and we know the best what's going on here.
13. Tell me something about the place where you recorded "Diabolical Metal"? How long did the session take? How do you recall this?
We recorded in Selani Studio. The session took us about 80 hours. Hell!
14.
No, I wouldn't. As I said, hit parade is not my business!
15. Are there any goals, which you'd like to reach as a band or maybe do you play only because it's a sheer joy?
Our goal is to play diabolical metal till our deaths.
16. Listening to "Diabolical Metal" I came to a conclusion that it's very much in the black metal moods. You called this material "Diabolical Metal". Don't you think that Non Opus Dei plays just diabolical metal? Would you like people to call your music like this?
Of course! As I told you previously Non Opus Dei performs Diabolical Metal exclusively, haha... It's our style, which is unrepeatable and there's no possibility to copy this.
17. Keeping up on the last question, does any classification of the metal based on genres irritate you? Do any opinions of some people about the style you play make you angry?
To my mind, it is necessary to play or listen to music. It's indescribable. Any "tattling" tries of describing music of NOD fall out deplorably. The classification of the metal based on genres doesn't irritate me. After all NOD creates its own genre of metal and we're above all!
18. What is the "Hail Loki" song about?
Cosmic order consists in co-operation of contrary powers. The true essence of the world is not love or hatred, but it is a fight and changes caused by it. Here is he, who is the active power of the world, who is the cause of progress - hail, Loki!
19. When can we expect the successor of "Diabolical Metal"? Would you mind telling us what will be the title of the next publication and how many songs will be there?
The successor of "Diabolical Metal" is ready. The new material is called "Applied Diabology", it's the division of transformation into deity called the Devil. I don't have an idea yet who will be the publisher of this material.
20. What are your views on such bands as Gehenna, which started playing black metal and now their creation is definitely close to typical death metal?
It's their business what they do. Do honestly and honourably just the right thing and don't count on others.
21. Do you think that jesus really existed or is he only a product of human imagination? One thing is certain - if Jesus had really existed, he would have not been a bad showman. Surely, there are a lot of people who would like to be able to walk on water, haha...
To hell with this question! Ha, it's quite obvious that all the history of Jesus is soaked with lies. You only need to mention divergence between the books of the Gospel. Furthermore, all the christian books were confiscated and destroyed to the command of emperor in the forth century. All the history was written once again taking into account present interests. Where is there a place for any truth? By the way - since when have the names been written with minuscular letter?
22. We're approaching the end of the interview. What about the plans of Non Opus Dei for the next weeks?
Our plans are as usual to create and destroy...
Thanks for the interview and support to diabolous.com. Would you like to impart something to people who are reading this interview?
It seems to me that all this time I have been telling something to people who will read this interview.
Gloria Deo, Domino Inferi.
